Our Lady Peace Didn’t Want To Force Guitarist To Change

Jane Stevenson of the Toronto Sun spoke with frontman Raine Maida who addressed the band dumping guitarist Mike Turner who was replaced by Steve Mazur. “We’ve been yearning for a guitar player like Steve for the last two records,” said Maida. “We’d always wanted to have a very strong guitar voice, someone that could really stand out and kind of shout as a guitar player. Mike was much more of an ambient player. So to force him to change didn’t seem right, and there were battles in that sense. Now, with Steve, it just feels like a new band.” Canoe.ca has since removed the article.
