OK Go’s Kulash Says NPR Gig Was ‘Surreal’

Joan Anderman of the Boston Globe spoke with Damian Kulash of who recently went on the road with National Public Radio’s Ira Glass as the house band for the fifth-anniversary tour of ‘This American Life.’ “That was surreal,” Kulash says of playing to public radio audiences. “Our role, I think, was to counterbalance the level of introspectiveness in the readings. No one stands up. They clap respectfully. It could have been a disaster. But the only bad moment was when an elderly woman asked if we could turn down the volume. Ira said, ‘Absolutely not’.” Boston.com has since removed the article.
