Beat magazine spoke with Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton about the band’s return after a solo jaunt by Bernard Fanning, and whether the frontman would be rejoining the band before their latest effort ‘Dream Days At The Hotel Existence’ came about. “No, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind,” Middleton said. “I think we’ve all come to appreciate and respect what has allowed us to do these successful, or not so successful, side projects. It didn’t just appear overnight, the success of that solo project. Myself, I was pretty understanding, and happy for him (Bernard). I know what it’s like to be able to do something yourself, and steer the ship, and not have to look to the four other members for approval.”
