Midlake’s McKenzie Smith On Recording Sophomore Album
Midlake drummer McKenzie Smith spoke with Time Off magazine about the marathon effort recording their sophomore album ‘The Trials Of Van Occupanther’. “You kind of just work until you get what you’re looking for, and it takes a long time,” Smith explained. “We spent 364 days recording, so it was a long time. But I think we were happy with the production. The vibe of it obviously is very much 70s, and I think that’s what we were trying to go for. We really like the way those albums were recorded and the way they sound, so we wanted to make our album sound like that. It was very much a conscious effort.” The article at timeoff.com.au has since been removed.
