Rolling Stone caught up with Mary J. Blige who gave props to artists in many genres including Alanis Morissette, Madonna, and even Nirvana, as well as Jill Scott. Asked if there was a song she was embarrassed to admit she liked, Blige responded, “‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ [by Nirvana]. You’re the first person I ever told that! That song is crazy. I was like, ‘Why do I like this record?’ But I felt like there was something going on with Kurt Cobain — everybody felt like they were a part of that song.”
