Loyal Deftones Fans Revel In Intimate Show

Steve Morse of the Boston Globe reviewed the concert at Axis on Tuesday (May 6). While it was a scaled down club show in advance of their self-titled album, “The sound was anything but scaled down, though, as Deftones played ferociously overamped, art-rock metal that shredded eardrums but also had a passionate intensity that was totally captivating.” Morse added, “The band unleashed its unique blend of scream-filled vocals and bruising, rhythm-section sonics to a packed house of fans that moshed and slam-danced but generally kept things under control, despite the obvious excitement of seeing one of heavy-rock’s most idolized bands in a tiny setting.” Boston.com has since removed the article.
