Shannon McCarthy of Get Real Detroit suggested to Longwave vocalist/guitarist Steve Schlitz that for some bands, getting signed to a major label means they’re successful. Asked what does his group do after that to feel successful, Schlitz said, “I don’t know; we’re in the middle of it right now. The real work is after you sign, because if things don’t go well – that’s the end, then you’ve got nothing else. The feeling is you’re damaged goods. If your record doesn’t go well, you got to start over. The only band I can think of that did really well in that situation is Nada Surf; they’re doing better than ever now.”
