USA Today’s music critic Ken Barnes chatted with the paper’s readers in a recent online chat. A reader apparently took offense to his past chats where he criticized Kiss. Barnes responded, “Look, I’m one of the few critical types I know who has always (well, most of the time) liked Kiss. During their peak, which would not extend beyond the end of the ’70s, they were a fun live spectacle and, more important, a consistently good rock band with a knack for pop hooks. But come on, they’ve outlived their usefulness and creativity for a couple of decades now, and conducting huge farewell tours followed by this hook-up with Aerosmith seems pretty bogus to me.” Read more.
