Jet Nab Two APRA Awards

AAP reports that Missy Higgins and picked up more awards at the Australian music industry’s annual songwriting awards. Both Higgins and rock band Jet scored two Australasian Performing Right Association awards at the event in Sydney. The APRA awards recognize composers and songwriters who achieve excellence in their craft. “This is a real honor to receive this award,” band frontman Nic Cester said via a recorded speech after the band was named Songwriter of the Year and Most Performed Work Overseas for ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’.
