Jacobs’ Ladder met through their high school music program, so the drastic budget cuts affecting arts programs nationwide hit home especially hard for the progressive rock trio. The Miami band recently took matters into their own hands by launching a Pledge Music campaign to help raise money and awareness for the charity MusicUnites, which benefits music education programs in inner city schools.
“Throughout our childhoods we were fortunate enough to receive music education through the public school system. Music has been a driving force in our lives and we couldn’t imagine the people we’d be today with out it. Programs like MusicUnites mean the world to us,” the band said.
Anyone who makes a minimum pledge at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/jacobsladder will gain access to an MP3 download featuring exclusive tracks that do not appear on the band’s recently released ‘Back To Life’ EP. Other unique bundles are available, including a personal phone call from a member of Jacobs’ Ladder, a guitar lesson, a signed drumhead, the chance to name bassist Sammy Gonzales’ signature afro and more.
