Incubus Had Tense Times Recording ‘Make Yourself’

Jeff Niesel of the Cleveland Free Times profiled and spoke with DJ Kilmore who discussed the band’s tense recording of 1999’s ‘Make Yourself.’ Kilmore admits, “We couldn’t agree on certain things. It started to constrict our creative process. Everyone knew and we all saw it. We were just like ‘What should we do?’ Our manager was like ‘Why don’t you try to go into a therapy session?’ We were like ‘All right, whatever. If it will help us write music, we’ll do it.’ We went, and after the first meeting, we were like, ‘This is great.’ It opened new pathways of communication and everything like that.” Freetimes.com has since removed the article.
