The guys from Incubus stopped by MuchMusic Studios for an appearance on ‘Live@Much’ on Monday (January 26). An audience member asked the group about their lyrics which seem to be very critical of consumer culture, and whether they feel it’s important with their status as musicians that they should take a stance and express their opinions to the world. “I feel it’s very important,” frontman Brandon Boyd responded. “You touch on the fact that we are walking contradictions in the fact that we are selling something essentially. We are part of a consumer culture as well. a lot of the things that come up in lyrics are maybe just keeping an awareness of those things. Not necessarily, don’t do that or this, but more like, oh, that is going on and I’m not the only one feeling that.” The entire transcript and photos from their appearance at muchmusic.com have since been removed.
