Hot Hot Heat have made use of spare moments on the road, readying new material for a third album, due for release sometime in 2006. “The songwriting process is getting to be more about the same right now,” drummer Paul Hawley told MuchMusic. “Usually someone comes with 60% of a song written, minus the lyrics if it’s Luke or me. And then the rest of us hash it out. We bounce ideas around, sometimes during soundcheck, when there’ll be people mulling around watching us while we write…” Vocalist Steve Bays then interrupted to add, “That’s always fun because when we get into arguments – which we always do about songs – it’s in front of a bunch of people and it’s always through the mic.”
