Hoobastank Sound Transcends Musical Genres
Ben O’Brien of Georgetown Univercity’s TheHoya.com reviewed the self-titled debut of Orange County rockers Hoobastank giving it good marks for “providing a sound that transcends musical genres.” O’Brien says of ‘Hoobastank’, “Robb sounds like he’s singing directly to you when you listen to him. Consequently, the songs often seem like pop songs set to the background of loud rock. However, that loud rock sound is just as much in the foreground as Robb’s impressive vocals, helping to make the melodies more appealing instead of distorting them.” Thehoya.com has since removed the article.
