Steve Hochman of the Los Angeles Times spoke with artist Jamie Hewlett from the Gorillaz for his thoughts on the band’s two shows at the Hollywood Palladium on Friday and Saturday. Hewlett said of bringing the cartoon band on tour, “When we came up with this we got every base covered, but one thing we weren’t sure about was the live show. How do you tour with an animated band? What we really wanted to do would cost millions of pounds, and we’d last about two shows. We had to find a way to do it as best as possible. A certain amount is scripted, but we have to be spontaneous with people coming in along the tour. It’s been quite exciting.” Calendarlive.com has since removed the article.
