Radiohead drummer Phil Selway acknowledged to ChartAttack.com that the title on their latest effort ‘Hail to the Thief’ has been misread as a deliberate dig at George W. Bush. “A lot of people have taken it that way,” he said. “From our point of view, it was a title that actually sat well with the general atmosphere of the world around the time the album was being written.” He added that, “we wouldn’t want to limit any record to just one issue or one cheap pot-shot. The title references a sense of foreboding that runs through the record, asking ‘what is going wrong with the world at the moment?'”
