Hoping to avoid distractions, Godsmack wrote and recorded ‘Faceless’ in Miami — the first time they’ve made an album outside Boston. “We got down there in August, and we lived together in one house, ” is how bassist Robbie Merrill described it to Sean Richardson of the Boston Phoenix. “We wanted to get to know [new drummer Shannon Larkin] better, and that was the best way to do it. We were at rehearsal five or six days a week.
