Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin tells the Scottish Daily Record that he has a theory as to why groups from the UK fail to register in America. “In America you have to keep it simple. British music is smarter. I’m thinking Radiohead or Travis. But radio stations won’t play them all the time and it’s airplay which gets you a big hit, not just the amount you sell,” Martin explained. “To be mainstream in America you have to be simple as far as rock is concerned. British rock is smarter and more difficult to catch on to straight away.”
