Franz Ferdinand To Donate Mercury Prize Cash To Charity

Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy tells Radio 1 they’ve decided how to spend their Mercury prize winner’s £20,000 check. “It was just extra money that we didn’t really plan to get, so I think that other people deserve it more than we do,” he said. “But a friend of ours has just set up a charity for Sudan, so I think that’s what we’re going to do, a bit of it to there. I think we’re going to split it up a bit – we wanna do something Glasgow based as well.”
