Evanescence Looks To The Future After Moody’s Exit
Christie Eliezer of Australia’s Beat magazine spoke with Evanescence singer Amy Lee about the band’s next album, which will see the group trying to bounce back from the surprise departure of guitarist Ben Moody, who has since been replaced, for now anyways, with Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo. Former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland who worked with Lee on the soundtrack to ‘Underworld’ is keen to produce some tracks. “I’m open to all kinds of ideas at the moment,” she said. “I listen back to ‘Fallen’ and realize we could have done so much more. Let’s see what happens as the songs emerge. Wes and I talked recently. He’s a good writer.” Asked about the lyrical direction she’s headed in, Lee said, “Everything. I’ve had so much building up – I’ve grown up so much in the last year – that all these things are flowing out. A lot of what’s happened starts to make sense when you put it into context of a song. Right now, I avoid reading magazines because the media’s really slamming me. You learn not to feel guilty and just be yourself.”
