Upon the release of their sophomore album ‘Cast Of Thousands’, many in the music press were hailing the Elbow album as some sort of musical epiphany that more then bettered their debut ‘Asleep In The Back’. “Well it’s very flattering, all that, of course,” bassist Pete Turner told Australia’s Beat magazine. “But I think it worked because it had a little bit of focus in the end. I mean after we went to America to tour ‘Asleep In The Back’, the record company sort of came to us and asked when we were writing and what we were doing.”
