Beyond touring with Queens of the Stone Age, Josh Homme spoke with MuchMusic about planning other projects, including a return to his side project, Desert Sessions, which features an even wider array of participants than Queens. The news that a UK-based franchise of Desert Sessions will feature Bloc Party and ex-Blur guitarist Graham Coxon brings a smile to his face. “I’m not involved,” he said, “but I think that’s awesome. People in bands – people that play an instrument should play together. It’s good for your brain. For me, words are an archaic way to explain how you feel about something – the intangibles – love and confusion and all that stuff…it’s like writing with a brick. So when words fail to fully explain how you feel, music is just the higher way to explain. I think that when people get together like that and play – it’s not for the pushing of a record – that they explain themselves.”
