DeGarmo Rejoins Queensryche For ‘Tribe’
Queensryche’s latest effort ‘Tribe’ marked the temporary return of guitarist Chris DeGarmo, who contributed to half of the collection’s 10 tracks. DeGarmo, a main songwriter from the band’s formation in 1981 until he left the group in 1997 because of creative differences, appears to have injected some of the old energy back into Queensryche. Frontman Geoff Tate tells NorthJersey.com DeGarmo approached the band out of the blue after several years of little or no communication. “Chris called up and said, ‘Hey, I heard through a friend that you’re doing a record’,” Tate said. “He said, ‘I’ve been wanting to put together some of these song ideas I’ve had sitting around, and I’ve got a couple that might be interesting if you want to check them out.’ That led to him coming over and playing some riffs for us and us getting excited and writing songs together.”
