Deftones Not Served By Verdun Venue

Bernard Perusse of the Montreal Gazette reviewed the concert at the Verdun Auditorium on Tuesday (November 25). He writes, “Yet for all the group’s reading of the teenage zeitgeist, there’s a problem: a nagging, numbing sameness that seems to bring down all their songs. To make matters worse, all the sonic edges and subtleties turned to sludge in the cavernous echo of the Verdun Auditorium, surely one of the worst concert venues in Montreal. As the air grew fouler with stale cigarette smoke and flat swill that was once beer, even fans seemed unsure at times where one song ended and the next started.” Canada.com has since removed the article.
