Frank Scheck of the Hollywood Reporter was on hand for Death Cab for Cutie’s concert at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Scheck writes, “Delivering a 90-minute set that concentrated largely on the past two albums but also threw in enough older numbers to satisfy the longtime fans, Death Cab demonstrated that their blend of introspective lyrics and mostly bouncy soft rock holds major appeal for the ‘O.C.’ demographic. The quartet even manages to make such downer lyrics as ‘But if the silence takes you, I hope it takes me too’, from the new song ‘Soul Meets Body’, feel somehow uplifting. It’s a formula that can wear pretty thin, and more so in concert than on the records.”
