Reuters reports that a bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Courtney Love on her 40th birthday on Friday (July 9) after the rocker-actress failed to appear for her arraignment on a felony assault charge. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Dennis Mulcahy waited nearly three hours for the performer to show up for the hearing before issuing the warrant. Love’s Attorney Michael Rosenstein called it a simple mistake. “Courtney’s in New York. There was some confusion with respect to her necessity of her appearance today,” explained Rosenstein. “As you are aware of, there are a couple of other matters pending in this jurisdiction. One, for which we have a waiver for her appearance, the other is a misdemeanor matter. It was nothing more than simple confusion on her behalf. Unfortunately, the judge didn’t want to hear anything about it,” Rosenstein said. Reuters.com has since removed the video.
