Courtney Love Says She Is A Sympathetic Artist In Suit
Courtney Love talked with Newsday’s Glenn Gamboa about her impending lawsuit against Universal, which is set to begin in Los Angeles Superior Court next month. Love said of her suit that suggests industry’s current practices involving royalties, accounting and other contract language stack the deck against the artists: “One lawyer said, ‘I could win this case if I had a more sympathetic artist. Hey, guess what? I can talk about sex and drugs. I can talk about the time I [had sex with] a girl. I can talk about injectables. You can’t do that with LeAnn Rimes, so I am the sympathetic artist. I can say whatever the hell I want because – don’t tell anyone in America – I used to have a drug problem.”
