Edna Gundersen of USA Today took part in an online chat with readers on Tuesday and was asked about the disappointing sales of Courtney Love’s debut solo effort ‘America’s Sweetheart’, which also hasn’t gotten the critical praise of Hole’s ‘Live Through This’. “I think ‘America’s Sweetheart’ falls short of ‘Live Through This’ on many levels,” Gundersen said. “There are a few sterling moments, but much of it sounds tired and phoned-in and recycled. One problem is that Courtney Love has turned into one of those tabloid celebrities known more for her legal woes and chemical indulgences than her art.”
