While Coldplay have every reason to let their heads swell a bit, frontman Chris Martin tells Gary Graff of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that’s not the band’s way. “It’s a weird mix being in our band,” Martin explained. “One half of us thinks we’re better than the Beatles, the other half thinks we don’t deserve to have two people come to our shows, let alone 2 million. One half of me thinks Paul McCartney should clean my boots; the other half thinks I should clean his. That keeps you kind of grounded. Mainly you’re just always trying to improve. You’re always making music thinking ‘Gee, will we live to regret that?’ and trying to make sure we won’t.”
