Chad Kroeger’s ‘Never Get Excited’ Motto

Although Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger has been featured on the cover of nearly every major entertainment magazine and even appeared in a video with Spider-Man (“Yeah, that was pretty cool,” he says), Kroeger has a motto he sticks by: “Never get excited. Keep your feet on the ground. Do not get jaded by anything at all. This could all end tomorrow.” He tells Scott Cronick of the Press of Atlantic City: “Even my own mom said, ‘Aren’t you going to ever get excited by all of this?’ And I’m like, ‘Nope.’ I just have to be laid back by it and appreciate it all. Meanwhile, the truth is I’m jumping inside. Let’s face it: This stuff is incredible. When I get in front of a crowd and they’re singing back our songs, there’s no better way to recharge the batteries.”
