Chad Gilbert To Release New 7″ ‘The Nashville Session’ June 19th

Chad Gilbert / What's Eating Gilbert

New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert will release a new 7″ under his What’s Eating Gilbert project on June 19th via Paper + Plastick Records. The two-song 7″, entitled ‘The Nashville Session’, is the fourth release from What’s Eating Gilbert.

‘The Nashville Session’, which will be released in digital and vinyl formats, was produced by Chad Gilbert and Jon Howard at The Anchor Room in Nashville, Tennessee. It follows up three What’s Eating Gilbert releases, the ‘Thinking ‘Bout Her’, ‘Dear God’ and ‘What I’d Do’ EPs on Epitaph Records. The Nashville Session is the first What’s Eating Gilbert release since late 2010.

‘The Nashville Session’ features the characteristic ’50s-style pop sounds of the What’s Eating Gilbert discography and infusing a pop-punk tilt from Gilbert’s career with New Found Glory. The more uptempo ‘The One’ complements the swingy vibe of ‘Lonely Road’. The latter of the two songs is an introspective look into Gilbert’s thoughts about tour life, following his pattern of introducing personal experience into What’s Eating Gilbert songs.

Miasmal Sign With Century Media Records

Miasmal

Miasmal have signed with Century Media, capitalizing on the growing fan base the Gothenburg-based band garnered with their previously released EP and studio album. Philipp Schulte, A&R at Century Media Records, commented:

We are very happy about the signing of Miasmal. The current death metal underground scene is offering many excellent new and promising bands, but only a few have that certain edge that makes you feel there is much more to come. It’s the combination of their music, style and attitude that makes Miasmal simply outstanding. When I listened to tracks like ‘Kallocain’, ‘Toxic Breed’ or the epic ‘Chronicles’ for the first time, I felt this band has a spirit most other bands are lacking.

Miasmal frontman Pontus Redig added:

We are happy to announce that we just signed a deal with Century Media! As fans of many of the label’s releases and bands, we feel that we are in good company. The new cooperation offers lots of opportunities for the making of our next record which is something we are very excited about. We’ve just begun the writing process and plan to head to the studio during the winter to immortalize our 2nd album and Century Media debut.

Dark Tranquillity Re-Signs With Century Media Records

Dark Tranquillity band

Century Media Records has renewed their deal for the third time with Swedish melodic death metal group Dark Tranquillity. The band from Gothenburg released their first album on Century Media Records in 1999, and since then has released 6 albums, plus 2 DVDs and a handful of special releases.

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Europe commented:

I start to believe in Numerology. 13 years ago, Dark Tranquillity signed their first contract with Century Media Records. Friday the 13th of April, I met Mikael Stanne and Niklas Sundin for the Roadburn festival at the lovely 013 venue in Tilburg to receive the signed copies of their 3rd Century Media contract for 3 more albums. The 3 of us had about 13 beers to celebrate it. It’s amazing how Dark Tranquillity are able to express their legacy as one of the original godfathers of the melodic death metal/Gothenburg sound without sounding outdated today. They always managed to stick to their roots and develop to new heights at the same time. Looking forward to the next album in 2013. Cheers!

The band commented:

After such a long history together, we’re more confident than ever that Century media is the perfect working partner for Dark Tranquillity. In a climate where a lot of record labels are weighed down by cynicism or have just plain given up in the face of the rapidly changing industry climate, Century media are still enthusiastic and forward thinking and take huge pride in releasing great music that matters. Here’s to another 13 years!

Dark Tranquillity live dates:
May 5 – Tel Aviv, Israel
May 6 – Istanbul, Turkey
June 1 – Metalfest, Austria
June 2 – Metalfest Dessau, Germany
June 3 – Metalfest, Poland
June 5 – Metalfest, Croatia
June 7 – Metalfest, Italy
