Built To Spill Don’t Impress With Late Starting Show
The Dallas Morning News’ Thor Christensen reviewed Built to Spill’s show at the Gypsy Tea Room on Monday but wasn’t impressed by the band nor the late start time of 12:35 a.m., at a bar which closed at 2 a.m.
Thor says the band’s remake of “Free Bird” and the concert itself “was a classic case of too little, too late.” Christensen adds that lead singer Doug Martsch “has always had the aura of a sleepwalker. With his disheveled hair, sleepy tenor, and lullaby melodies, he seems like he’s on a mission to make himself doze off.”
