Time Off magazine spoke with Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd and guitarist Mike Einziger about how they feed off each other while developing material in the studio. “When I hear music ideas that Mike has written, that helps me move into the ‘word’ or ‘melodic’ form,” Boyd said. “It’s sparked by the imagery he brings to me. I see colors, and strange imagery. In my mind’s eye I’m pulling those things down, and writing down what I see. It’s very exciting. It’s reactionary. I write guitar parts sometimes, but it’s nothing like when Mickey goes ‘Check out this guitar part’. I’m like ‘Whoa!’ That’s what excites the really good stuff out of me.” The article at timeoff.com.au has since been removed.
