U2 singer Bono was honored at the annual benefit for the international charity “Keep A Child Alive,” for his extraordinary efforts in the fight against AIDS. “To be honest with you, I didn’t want to get an award,” Bono said on the red carpet. “I’d rather be giving out awards. But they wouldn’t hear any of that, so I’m hear. I’m proud. I love New York. I like when New Yorkers get together to take on something like this. It gets noisy, it gets messy.” He added that “rock stars want to do two things. They want to have fun and they want to change the world.
