Black Lips Resist Digital
That raw sound the Black Lips are known for may be thanks to the raw way they record their music. “We never record on digital interface. It’s always on tape,” drummer Joe Bradley tells the Charlotte Observer, adding that the band plays through tube amplifiers and old equipment, recorded on an old tape machine. “Most people prefer to do digital because it’s cheaper and more convenient, but if we’re going to do an album, we record on tape. It’s organic. It sounds better.” The Atlanta based band released their fifth album ‘Good Bad Not Evil’ in September. The article at charlotte.com has since been removed.
