Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune was on hand for Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s sold-out concert Tuesday (July 5) at the Vic. Kot writes, “Only weeks after releasing his first solo album, ‘The Future Embrace’, the singer trafficked in broken ballads, twisted machine-pop and eerie hymns to redemption in the first of two hometown concerts. The lost boy at the heart of most of the Pumpkins raging rock epics now stood alone, with no bombastic rock chords to hide behind. Or so it seemed. By the end of the show, Corgan was again bringing the rock—and even invoking the Pumpkins.” Chicagotribune.com has since removed the article.
