Ash’s latest album ‘Meltdown’ gives rise to a heavier Ash than their previous efforts. “I guess this album is probably a case of us doing what we do live,” drummer Rick McMurray explained to Australia’s Time Off magazine. “Our gigs have always been a lot heavier than our records so we really wanted to achieve that in this record. We created a lot of space on this album for Tim [Wheeler, singer and guitarist] to do a bit of shredding. There’s even a few Van Halen finger-tapping moments on it! This album’s a departure in some ways but it still retains the melodic sound of the band, which is something we’re known for.”
