Time Off magazine spoke with Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner and drummer Matthew Helders as the band take their act to Australia. Helders spoke about the group’s influences, which cut a swathe through musical genres. “There is a spectrum, throughout the band, where there’s different tastes that all come together,” Helders explained. “It could go from something like Roots Manuva to Queens of the Stone Age or System of a Down. And within that spectrum, you’ve got all these different inputs, from every individual member, who’s all got a different thing they like, someone else might not. But then obviously, we introduce each other to these things, bring it all together, and you’ve got yourself an Arctic Monkeys song.” The article at timeoff.com.au has since been removed.
