Joel Francis of the Kansas City Star caught up with Evanescence singer Amy Lee who hasn’t let her status as one of the few women to succeed in the male-dominated territory of hard rock distract her from her craft. “Generally I’ve been treated pretty respectfully,” Lee said. “You never really know how hard it is, you just have to represent what’s most important, and for me it’s the music. Sometimes I don’t know if they’re being nice because I’m a cute girl or because I’m a musician. Every day I just try to be the best musician and artist I can and know I am doing my best to get my music across. That’s the only way I can stay true to myself.”
