Alexakis Says Everclear Lyrics Aren’t Always Personal

Marty Hughley of The Oregonian spoke with frontman Art Alexakis on how his solo tour is going. When Art explained the solo album was more personal, Hughley countered that most of his stuff seemed personal. Art insists, “That’s a fallacy. That gets said about me a lot, but it’s not really true. I’m injecting my persona and attitude and things I know into the songs. But I’m not always writing about my life. There’s ‘Father of Mine,’ obviously, and ‘The Good Witch of the North’ is about me and (wife) Stephanie. ‘I Will Buy You a New Life’ has some things in it that are directly from my experience. But those are kind of the exceptions.” has since removed the article.
