Michael Hollett of Now Toronto chatted with Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson ahead of their tour stop in Toronto next Wednesday. When asked if rock was back, Lifeson responded, “Definitely. The economy is getting a little worse in North America. When the economy is good nobody wants anything too heavy or deep, so pop makes a huge resurgence. Through the 90s there was a long period of economic growth and materialism, and music reflected it with boy bands and cute, fluffy female artists.
