Gemma Tarlach of the Journal Sentinel today profiles the predicted demise of rage rock bands like Limp Bizkit or Slipknot as music insiders are saying the events of September 11 have changed the music landscape. Alan Light, editor-in-chief of Spin said “I think it’s a mistake to say aggro-rock is gone. Aggro was the only kind of rock allowed at the big table for a few years. It hasn’t been kicked out, but now there is room for more kinds of rock at that table.”
Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D. took the chance to dig into Limp Bizkit saying, “Nobody really wants to hear negative music anymore. I was seeing it even before September 11. Fans saw we weren’t talking about the same old things. We weren’t doing it all for the nookie. People know how to sell records. They know, ‘Oh, if I stick my middle finger up, this record will sell.’ We were never trying to sell records.” The full story at jsonline.com has since been removed.
