AFI Takes Punk Rock To Strange Places

Rick Reger of Metromix.com reviewed the AFI, the Explosion, and Blood Brothers concert at the Riv in Chicago on Saturday (April 12). Reger said of the headliners, “Without question the most striking take on punk aesthetics came from headliner and overwhelming crowd favorite AFI. There was a time not so long ago that a punk rock show featuring stage smoke, dramatic lighting and a spandex-clad, heavily made-up singer would have earned a hail of boos, but AFI is taking the genre to strange places and selling lots of records doing it.” Metromix.chicagotribune.com has since removed the article.
