A.F.I. Finds Its Groove Melding Punk, Goth
Brett Milano of the Boston Herald reviewed the AFI concert at Avalon on Friday (May 9). Milano said, “After 10 years of spotty albums and personnel changes, AFI found its groove on its current album, ‘Sing the Sorrow,’ with much help from ex-Nirvana producer Butch Vig. So their show this weekend indicates the confidence of a band that’s just made its commercial breakthrough. Lead singer Davey Havok may cut a spectral figure in his dyed hair, dark mascara and black leather; but he was polite and chatty between songs, once referring to the band’s unnoticed local debut six years ago at the Middle East.” Bostonherald.com has since removed the article.
