Apocalyptica Release ‘7th Symphony’ & Kick Off Tour
The seventh studio album ‘7th Symphony’ from rock Finnish cello-quartet Apocalyptica just debuted. Apocalyptica’s nationwide tour supporting the release kicked off tonight at the Nokia Theatre in New York City, and will wrap up September 13th at the Roseland Theatre in Portland. The band will play a mix of favorites from past albums as well as brand new tracks including the ‘End of Me’, which has been steadily climbing the Billboard Active Rock Chart’s Top 20.
7th Symphony was produced by Joe Barresi and features eight instrumentals plus four headbangers with guest vocals, including the first single and video ‘End Of Me’ with lead vocals by Bush’s Gavin Rossdale. Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Lacey (Flyleaf), Joe Duplantier (Gojira) and Brent Smith (Shinedown) also make cameos on the album. Like A Storm Feel Lucky To Avoid Opening For A-Hole Bands
Like A Storm bassist Kent Brooks checked in with fans on the band’s blog at iLike.com on July 6th, talking about how the New Zealand rock band has been lucky with the bands they’ve been opening for on tour. Kent writes:
Just a quick note to say we made it back safe and sound from tour last night and had a f@cking AWESOME time. Econoline Crush was so cool to us and such great guys, and they sounded amazing every night. I think we all wished the tour was going for longer… It’s always cool for us to meet successful bands who are still great dudes, this industry can create so many egomaniacs, and it’s rad to meet rock stars who aren’t complete a**holes! Haha…
Actually we’ve been lucky, every big band we’ve toured with: Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Shinedown, Drowning Pool & now Econoline have all kinda taken us under their wing and looked after us really well on tour. I’ve heard nightmare stories about other opening slots, but so far we’ve found it to be the opposite.

First Comeback Performance For Creed At AOL Studios
Creed visited AOL’s Noisecreep studios, performing four of their hits and talking about how they’ve achieved massive sales success but have not gotten much love from the music critics. “You know, I don’t think we ever felt that we needed validation,” vocalist Scott Stapp said last week. “But it would be nice to get a nice article written every now and then you know?” Watch performances of ‘My Own Prison’, ‘Higher’, ‘With Arms Wide Open’ and ‘My Sacrifice’ below, and check out a Q&A at music.aol.com.
Creed Reunion Announcement Could Be Imminent
Billboard reports that Scott Stapp and his former Creed bandmates Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall are in talks to reunite the group, which hasn’t performed since their June 2004 breakup. Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy is an apparent top contender to replace Robert Plant for a tour with Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, which would free up Tremonti, Phillips and Marshall to rejoin the band which has sold 26.1 million albums in the United States since 1997. A spokesperson for Creed’s label Wind-Up tells Billboard, “There have been some talks, but it would be premature to comment on them at this time.” Read more.
Scott Stapp Performs ‘Broken’ For U.S. Sailors
Footage of Scott Stapp performing 'Broken' on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ronald Reagan on September 24th while the ship remained on station in the Gulf of Oman has been posted at the former Creed singer's YouTube channel. "It's a dream come true to be on an aircraft carrier," Stapp said. "The most important reason we came out was to say how much we appreciate the sacrifice and the service that you have dedicated your lives to." Watch the performance below.[inline] [/inline]
